A geomagnetic storm could trigger the northern lights on Monday. According to the forecasters, it would have to bear a storm, including that in Maryland. The rare treat that caught up on Sunday night with a view of the aurora borealis had finally offered snow.

The northern lights displays Monday are possible as far south as Alabama and northern California. The viewing conditions need to be perfect across Maryland. The National Weather Service forecast had called for partially cloudy skies in Maryland. If you genuinely wish to witness the colorful display of the aurora, you will have to go away from the city lights! You may visit either the state park in your region or the county to witness them.
According to the Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang reports, the northern lights appeared across the Mid-Atlantic, Plains, and Great Lakes.

They were on full display over the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and the Northeast, which was incredibly vivid in Illinois and Missouri. A coronal mass ejection that triggered the ethereal shows occurred on Friday, wherein the sunburst had a lot of energy. This was reported according to the Space Weather Prediction Center at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
As per the NOAA, the CMEs are known to have their magnetic fields. Thus, the energy traveled toward the Earth at around 2 million miles per hour, setting off a severe geomagnetic storm. A watch remained in the states along the nation’s midsection till Monday.

They further declared that the best time to look at the aurora is between 10 pm and 2 am, but it may change quickly, making things tricky! The storm on Sunday was a doozie, registering 4 out of 5 on NOAA’s space weather G- scale) at3:26 pm. EDT Sunday. A few hours later, the social feeds were all filled with incredible snaps taken by observers across multiple states. The spectacular view was evident in various places in the Midwest, including Illinois and Nebraska.
