CBD Oil Made

How is CBD Oil Made?

CBD oil, short for cannabidiol oil, can be found everywhere now – from the pet section of grocery stores to pharmacies and cosmetic sections.

CBD oil is made from the hemp plant in a long and expensive process to make sure that the final product is pure and doesn’t contain any additives or contaminants.

CBD Oil Manufacturing

Here’s a step-by-step summary of how CBD is made:

  1. First of all, the hemp plants are planted. Hemp is a great plant to grow because you can sow the seeds close to each other, and you can use it for plant cycling. Moreover, hemp grows very quickly. It takes just about 60 days for the plant to sprout.

  2. The plant is harvested and tested for THC content. It should be in compliance with the local laws.

  3. Carbon dioxide/ethanol extraction. These methods of extraction are used to extract the CBD from the hemp plant. Ethanol extraction involves the use of ethanol to extract cannabinoids from the hemp plant. Carbon dioxide extraction uses supercooled carbon dioxide to extract the compounds. The latter is more expensive but gives a much purer and safer end product. Thus, it’s a good idea to ask your CBD brand which method of extraction they use.

  4. Filtration/purification/distillation. The extracted oil is then filtered according to the desired end product. For example, if isolate CBD is required, the end product will be filtered to contain just CBD. Usually, the filtration process is done through distillation. This involves evaporation of the product and distillation at specific temperatures to obtain your desired end product.

CBD Spectrum

The level of purity and filtration depends on the end product you’re getting. For example, full spectrum CBD oil is only crudely filtered and contains all the compounds present in the hemp plant. Broad-spectrum CBD oil contains all the compounds except THC.

CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD and contains about 99% of this compound.

This is how CBD oil processing is done. It has made and delivered to you in the form of a final product.

Throughout the extraction process, numerous variables affect the quality of the final product. Therefore, making CBD oil from hemp is a long, multi-step process.

Before You Purchase the Product

You need to make sure that the CBD oil tablets or tinctures you are purchasing come from a reliable brand that uses licensed hemp plants.

Moreover, you also need to make sure that their purification process gets rid of all impurities.

Most reliable CBD brands provide 3rd party lab test results that show the concentration of their product and the presence or absence of heavy metals and other contaminants. Always ask for these results before purchasing CBD.

The product may be incorporated into CBD oil tablets, tinctures, creams, ointments, and sprays.
