Eight adults and two juveniles were injured after a three-vehicle crash on Route 29 South.

A three-vehicle collision on Route 29 South in Howard County, Maryland, sent eight adults and two juveniles to local hospitals on Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 3:00 PM near Route 29 and Route 108. According to the Howard County Police Department, a vehicle entering Route 29 South from the Route 108 ramp lost control for an unknown reason.

The out-of-control vehicle struck the rear of a sedan traveling on Route 29 South. The impact caused the sedan to spin out and collide head-on with an SUV traveling in the opposite direction.

In total, three vehicles were involved – the vehicle that lost control, a sedan, and an SUV. Eight adults and two children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old were injured in the crash.

All ten victims were transported to Howard County General Hospital to be treated for various injuries ranging from minor cuts and bruises to suspected fractures and internal injuries.

As of Sunday evening, two victims remained hospitalized in stable condition. The other eight were treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Route 29 South was shut down for over three hours as police and fire/EMS personnel worked to clear the scene and investigate.
