Police are investigating a shooting on Friday, July 14, 2023, in Bladensburg, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. According to US News, the shooting shut down area roads and images from the scene showed a heavy police presence on a bridge that crosses the Anacostia River in Bladensburg.
Further reports from ABC News indicate that five people leaving a cemetery after a funeral were shot and wounded by someone firing into their car from a second vehicle. The incident occurred about a mile east of the Maryland line with Washington, D.C.
According to AP News, this shooting comes just weeks after a block party shooting in Baltimore left two people dead and 28 injured. The investigation into the Bladensburg shooting is ongoing.
