The protagonist of the series is Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) who has just been made senior partner at her firm after returning from retirement to support her goddaughter Maia Rindell (Rose Leslie). The third season begins with Maia defending an alleged terrorist when she herself comes under attack when leaked documents reveal that she might not be able to practice law again because of an undisclosed past. The stakes are raised even higher by the fact that there may be another mole in their midst ready to bring them down!
