The mother of rising Baltimore rapper LonnieDaGoat, whose real name is Lonnie Smith, is seeking justice for her son’s murder in 2022. Smith, who was just 21 years old, was fatally shot in his car in the early hours of February 17, 2022, while on his way home from a studio session.

In an emotional interview with local news station WJZ, Smith’s mother, Tanya Jones, expressed her grief and frustration over losing her son. “He was my baby. He was my everything,” she said. “I just want justice for him. I want whoever did this to be held accountable.”

Jones described her son as a talented and hardworking artist on the cusp of making it big in the music industry. “He had a bright future ahead of him,” she said. “He was just getting started.”

Police have not yet made any arrests concerning Smith’s murder, but Jones remains hopeful that justice will be served. “I have faith in the police and the justice system,” she said. “I know they will find the person who did this and bring them to justice.”

Jones also expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support from the local community and the music industry. “It means a lot to me to see how many people loved and respected my son,” she said. “He touched so many lives in his short time here.”

Smith’s death has sent shockwaves through the Baltimore music scene, with many of his peers and fans taking to social media to express their condolences and pay tribute to his talent and spirit. A vigil was held in his honor in the days following his death, with hundreds of people gathering to remember him and celebrate his life.

As the investigation into Smith’s murder continues, Jones is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and help bring her son’s killer to justice. “I won’t rest until I know that the person who did this is behind bars,” she said. “Lonnie deserved better than this, and I won’t stop fighting until justice is served.”
