Maryland Man Steals Ambulance and Causes Multiple Hit-and-Runs

A Maryland man was arrested on Saturday after stealing an ambulance and causing multiple hit-and-run accidents in Virginia. Darell T. Caldwell, 30, was involved in a crash in Arlington County and stole the ambulance responding to the scene. He proceeded to drive the ambulance along I-395 towards Washington D.C., hitting at least 13 vehicles along the way.

Virginia State Police responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect after he crashed the ambulance into a median. The man was taken into custody and faces numerous charges, including grand larceny and hit-and-run.

Witnesses Describe Chaotic Scene

Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene on I-395 as the stolen ambulance careened down the highway, hitting multiple vehicles. “It was just a mess,” said one witness. “There were cars everywhere, and the ambulance was just plowing through them.”

Another witness described when the suspect crashed the ambulance into a median. “It was like something out of a movie,” said the witness. “The ambulance was flying through the air, and then it just came crashing down.”

Suspect Faces Serious Charges

The suspect in the stolen ambulance case is facing serious charges, including grand larceny, hit-and-run, and reckless driving. He is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.

The incident has sparked concern among law enforcement officials, who are urging drivers to be cautious on the roadways and to report any suspicious behavior immediately. “This is a reminder that anything can happen on the road,” said one Virginia State Police officer. “We need to be vigilant and aware of our surroundings at all times.”
