A man was fatally shot in South Baltimore’s Lakeland neighborhood on Tuesday evening, according to the Baltimore City Police Department. The victim, whose identity had not been released, was dead at the scene.
Police say they received a call around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday about a shooting in the 2900 block of Westport Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save his life, the victim died at the scene.
The shooting is currently under investigation by the Baltimore City Police Department. Police have not released any information about possible suspects or motives for the shooting.
The incident is the latest in a string of shootings in Baltimore in recent weeks. On Wednesday, a 26-year-old man was fatally shot in Baltimore’s Mt. Winans neighborhood. Two other men were killed and one was injured in separate shootings in South Baltimore earlier this year.
The shootings have raised concerns about gun violence in the city and the need for more robust measures to address the issue. Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott has called for increased resources for law enforcement and community organizations to address the city’s root causes of gun violence.
