Former Prince George’s Co. correctional officer pleads guilty in drug-smuggling case.

A former correctional officer in Prince George’s County, Maryland, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Danielle Dominique Smith, 34, of Waldorf, was employed at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections Detention Facility when she smuggled controlled substances into the facility. Smith’s guilty plea comes after an investigation by law enforcement officials. She faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
