Celine Dion, the Canadian singer and international superstar, revealed in a video on her social media accounts that she has been diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). The disorder has features of an autoimmune disease and affects the nervous system, causing muscle stiffness and spasms.

The 55-year-old singer, who canceled the remaining dates of her Courage World Tour earlier this year, shared that her health issues “affect every aspect of my daily life.” In the emotional video, Dion described the pain and discomfort she has been experiencing and how it has impacted her ability to perform and enjoy her life.

Dion’s sister, Claudette Dion, also spoke out about her sister’s condition, saying that “her pain can’t be helped” and that the family is doing everything they can to support her.

Treatment and Outlook

Stiff Person Syndrome has no known cure, but treatments are available to manage the symptoms. Dion has been receiving treatment for her condition and hopes to return to performing soon.

In a statement released by her team, Dion thanked her fans for their support and understanding. “I want to thank all of my fans for their love and support during this difficult time,” she said. “I am doing everything I can to manage my condition and return to doing what I love.”

Dion’s team also announced that they will be rescheduling the dates of her Courage World Tour to allow her time to focus on her health and recovery.

As of September 6, 2023, there have been no updates on Dion’s condition or when she will return to the stage. However, fans worldwide continue to send their love and support to the beloved singer as she navigates this difficult time.
