Baltimore Man Fatally Shot in Silver Spring Parking Garage

A 21-year-old Baltimore man named Kymani Elijah Bailey was fatally shot in a public parking garage in downtown Silver Spring early on Saturday morning, according to the Montgomery County Police Department. The incident occurred at around 2:40 a.m. on July 8th, 2023.

Bailey was found inside the parking garage with multiple gunshot wounds and dead at the scene. The police department has not released any information about the suspect or the motive behind the shooting.

This incident has shaken the Silver Spring community and is calling for action to prevent further violence. In December of 2021, a 19-year-old man named Getro Banamina was killed in a stabbing on the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive. The suspect, 18-year-old Dakari Thomas, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. In another incident, a suspect stabbed three men at a McDonald’s in Silver Spring without warning. The suspect was later arrested and charged with multiple counts of assault and attempted murder.
