Ammon Bundy Arrested for Contempt of Court

Far-right activist Ammon Bundy was arrested on August 12, 2023, and is held in Gem County on a $10,000 bond. Bundy was arrested for Contempt of Court after repeatedly failing to appear in court or respond to a lawsuit filed by St. Luke’s Health System. Ada County Judge Lynn Norton issued a civil arrest warrant for Bundy, finding probable cause that he committed contempt. Bundy gained national attention for leading the armed occupation of federal land in Oregon in 2016 and has been arrested multiple times for various offenses.

Bundy’s History of Arrests

This is not the first time that Bundy has been arrested. In 2022, he was arrested for trespassing at an Idaho hospital and was found guilty on two of three charges. Bundy was also arrested earlier that year for trespassing at a hospital protest. Bundy was a key figure in infamous stand-offs over federal control of public lands. His latest arrest adds to his growing list of legal troubles, and it remains to be seen what the outcome of this latest case will be.
