2024 Race for Baltimore Mayor Could Soon Begin to Heat Up

As of August 13th, 2023, the 2024 race for the mayor of Baltimore is starting to gain attention. According to Fox Baltimore, the race is just around the corner, and the incumbent mayor, Brandon Scott, is facing three major issues as he tries to retain his position. These issues include crime, education, and leadership.

The 2024 Baltimore mayoral election is scheduled to be held on November 5, 2024, with the Democratic and Republican primary elections being held on May 14, 2024. However, there have been calls to change the primary election date due to conflicts with Passover. Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and Baltimore County Executive John Olszewski Jr. have called for the change, as reported by WBAL-TV 11 News.

In addition, there have been suggestions to adopt a top-two voting system for the mayoral election, as reported by the Baltimore Sun. This would improve municipal government in Baltimore, according to the editorial board.

As the 2024 race for Baltimore mayor heats up, it will be interesting to see how these issues and potential changes will impact the election.
