His father, Colin Stone, was a Walter Scott Prize-winning novelist; his mother, Sonia Constance Josephine Copeland-Bloom, was an educationalist and teacher who specialized in art and photography. Bloom’s mother died in a car accident when he was four. When he was fourteen, his father moved the family to London to be closer to relatives.
