When most people think of vacations, they think of amusement parks, beach resorts, cruises and historical neighborhoods. While all of these are great tourist destinations, they cannot compare to visiting a vineyard or winery. Visiting one of these establishments requires a bit of insight on enological etiquette, but this is not difficult to achieve with the proper research and practice.

Every winery has its own unique attributes, which are noticeable as soon as you begin your journey. Just because you visited a winery the previous weekend and enjoyed the tour, does not necessarily mean the next winery experience will be as rewarding. Expect to see a different layout and processes, but never voice your opinion or make verbal comparisons, because this isn’t property etiquette. However, it is safe to comment on various wines and offering feedback, but do it cautiously.

The Gemeny Winery and Vineyards is the creation of Gordon and Mary Gemeny, with 2-acres of luscious rolls of grape-bearing vines. The Romano Vineyard and Winery is nestled on a family farm, rising up from a home for honeybees to one of the most prominent vineyards in the state of Maryland. Joseph and Jo-Ann Romano had enough of honey, so they decided to test their fate in grape planting and winemaking. The first holes were drilled in 2007 and the first grapes were not harvested until 2010. The Romano family plays host to one of the most prominent wine tasting and walking tours, one that will leave everlasting memories for you to share with your family and friends.
