A Carroll County teacher is facing charges on four counts of solicitation of a minor in connection with an online chat investigation in Virginia.
Thirty-nine-year-old Kenneth Brian Fischer of the 800 block of Amherst Lane engaged in online conversation with a minor beginning August 31. Fischer is currently a teacher at Westminster West Middle School. He was formerly employed at North Carroll High School, Manchester Valley High School, Mt. Airy Middle School, Winters Mill High School, Sykesville Middle School and Francis Key Scott High School.
A search warrant was conducted at Fischer’s residence about 5:40 a.m. Wednesday. Police recovered digital and electronic data storage devices, which will undergo digital forensic analysis in Virginia. Fischer was arrested in his home and is being detained at the Carroll County Detention Center. He will be extradited to Virginia pending a hearing, according to a Maryland State Police news release.
Charges have not been filed against Fischer in Maryland. Future charges will depend on the outcome of this investigation.
