Prince George’s County Waste Management Revamping The Trash Collection Process
As of May 2, 2016, Prince George’s County Waste Management began collecting trash on a weekly basis. This new plan is designed to simplify the collection process, improve air quality, and provide neighborhoods with better service. Residents can also request an extra pickup during the week for bulky refuse. Just dial 311 to schedule an appointment for an additional pickup.
Every resident will be provided with a wheeled waste bin (will not be available until fall) to help keep the content neater and make it easier for the entire Waste Management crew. This new weekly collection process will reduce traffic congestion, noise, and damage on the public roads. While this may seem like an inconvenience right now, it will eventually help everyone involved.
Move your waste bin to the end of your driveway, before 6:00 am on your scheduled collection day. In order to reduce mess, please place your waste in plastic bags and seal them tightly. If you are interested in finding out the actual collection day in your area, please click on the link provided:
Every resident will receive 2 door hangers to help you remember your collection day. If you have any further question concerning these changes, please visit the Maryland Department of the Environment website:
