Prince George’s County Police Identify Suspect In Lanham Homicide


Prince George’s County, Maryland – Homicide Unit detectives charged a teenager in connection with a fatal stabbing inside of a home in Lanham on Thursday. The victim is 53-year-old Herman Jackson of Woodstream Terrace in Lanham. The suspect is 16-year-old Taahir Butler. The victim was in a relationship with the suspect’s mother. They all lived in the same house.

Taahir ButlerOn May 10th, at approximately 4:00 am, patrol officers responded to a home in the 7000 block of Woodstream Terrace. They discovered the victim suffering from stab wounds. He died a short time later at a hospital.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim and suspect became involved in a dispute. During that altercation, the suspect shot the victim several times with a BB gun and then stabbed him.

Butler was in the home when officers arrived. He has confessed to stabbing the victim. He is charged as an adult with first and second-degree murder. He’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
