Philadelphia Man Allegedly Stole Mother’s Government Funds

Acting U.S. Attorney Louis D. Lappen announced Wednesday a Philadelphia man was charged with one count of theft of government funds.

Sixty-eight-year-old Shi Luang Peng allegedly received retirement benefits from July 2008 until March 2016 intended for his deceased mother. Pen’s actions resulted in a $94,606.51 loss for the government.

Peng faces a maximum 3-year prison sentence and a $250,000 fine, if convicted.
