Maryland State Police Investigating Serious Injury Collision in Queen Anne’s County, Driver Flees The Scene


Maryland State Police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Maryland Route 300 and Route 290 in Sudlersville, Maryland. At the scene, the troopers located two vehicles with heavy damage.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Route 300, when a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu that failed to stop at a stop sign struck it.

The driver and occupant of the Honda were “trapped” and suffered serious injuries. The driver and passenger in the Malibu – Mississippi registration JQF240 – fled the scene on foot, according to the press release. Witnesses described the two subjects as Hispanic males.

The driver of the Honda was later identified as Richard Alan Coleman 84 and passenger as Dorothy Elizabeth Coleman, 80. Both are listed as serious but stable condition.

Troopers were able to determine that alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision. The roadway was reopened about four hours later.
