Maryland Rep. Donna Edwards Enters The Prince George’s County Executive’s Race

Donna F. Edwards, former U.S. Representative for Maryland’s 4th Congressional District, enters the 2018 Democratic primary for the 2018 Democratic primary for Prince George’s County executive.

Edwards joins former Obama administration official, Paul Monteiro, Prince George’s State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks and State Sen. C. Anthony Muse, all Democrat candidates, to run to replace Rushern Baker III, who is running for Maryland governor.

In a video posted on Twitter, Edwards says her first opportunity to organize came when she was a student, when she and others took on a fraternity dressed as Confederate soldiers. After law school, she joined a group to help write the Violence Against Women Act. She is an advocate for public education and veterans.
