Maryland Natural Resources Police Rescue Man From Patapsco River


Maryland Natural Resources Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 10:45 a.m. Thursday, where a man was clinging to an overturned kayak in the Patapsco River.

Forty-six-year-old Randall Heath of Pasadena was duck hunting when he fell from his boat, which was about a quarter mile offshore. According to the report, Heath’s life jacket failed to inflate preventing him from getting back inside the boat.

An officer patrolling nearby heard the call launched reached the scene within 15 minutes. A firefighter on shore guided Officer Antonio Colvin to the victim by phone.

Anne Arundel County firefighters rowed to the scene on a dinghy. Colvin picked the firefighters up and they began reviving Heath, who was shivering uncontrollably and unable to speak.

Heath was transported to Baltimore-Washington Medical Center for treatment of a fractured hand and hypothermia.
