Man Found Guilty Of 2015 West Baltimore Fatal Shooting

Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office announced Friday a man implicated in a 2015 West Baltimore fatal shooting.

On October 31, 2015, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Laurens Street. At the scene, the responding officers located a man who had been shot in the back of the head. Medics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

PrisonThe victim was later identified as Earl Keith Burton.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Burton and three other individuals were driving around, when they decided to drive to the 1100 block of Laurens Street, where they would meet two of Burton’s associates, according to the release.

The group arrived at the residence ahead of the second group. When the second group arrived the man in the backseat with Burton shot him in the back of the head as he exited the vehicle. The man identified as Anthony Burris then fled the area.

Burris was found guilty of second-degree murder and a handgun violation. He faces a maximum 50-year prison sentence. His sentencing is scheduled for January 16, 2018.

“Once again, thanks to the courageousness of the witnesses who came forward to testify in this case, my prosecutors were able to deliver justice to a grieving family that has awaited this day for two years,” State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby said in a statement. “While nothing will replace the loss of their loved one, my only hope is that their healing can now begin.”
