Hotel Management Company Ceres Enterprises Temporarily Laying Off Most Staff Due To COVID-19 Virus


On March 18, 2020, Ceres Enterprises submitted a WARN with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The letter is to serve notice that the hotel management company will be temporarily having a mass lay off of most, if not all, of the staff at its hotels due to COVID-19. The company operates two hotels in the Indianapolis area including the two hotels below.

  • Cambria Hotel Noblesville – 13500 Tegler Dr. Noblesville, Indiana
  • Cambria Hotel Westfield – 18592 Carousel Lane Westfield, Indiana

The company began the layoff process on March 16, 2020. It anticipates returning the impacted staff to employment as soon as possible. Some of the impacted positions include sales staff, front desk, maintenance, kitchen, and housekeeping.

A notice given to employees and General Managers explains that “decisions of our government officials to safeguard our population has greatly affected corporate industries and travel industries. Thus, we in the hotel industry have been greatly affected.”

The company is advising employees to apply for unemployment benefits. Ceres Enterprises does not know the length of the lay-off. The full WARN is available here.
