D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Company submitted a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification in the Western Region on September 20. The notice indicates that the Pennsylvania-based company will close its facility at 8670 Farnsworth Road in Cuba, New York.
Stauffer’s was founded in the late 1800s, at which time it introduced its baked cookies and crackers to Pennsylvania consumers. The company also has bakeries in Santa Ana, California and York, Pennsylvania. Stauffer’s is a division of Meiji Co. LTD of Japan.
According to the WARN notice, a majority of the employees who are not represented by a union will separate on December 29 and the remaining employees will separate on February 28, 2018, March 31, 2018 and June 30, 2018. The Cuba facility will close on June 30, 2018.
The company sited “economic” as the reason for the layoff.
