Baltimore School Teacher Charged With Second-Degree Assault After Video Surfaced


Baltimore teacher, Taurean Branch, was caught on video striking a student, which surfaced and ended up in the possession of Baltimore police on Monday. The incident occurred on Friday.Branch, 29, has been teaching at Waverly Elementary/Middle School since January 2013. Court records were not available on Tuesday, but according to the police he was charged with second-degree assault and custodial child abuse.

School officials said Branch, of Parkville, was placed on administrative leave. The video shows Branch hitting an 11-year-old boy in his midsection after he began pounding on a desk and crying.
