Baltimore Police Identify Suspect In Edmondson Avenue Murder, Victims Identified In Unrelated Shootings

Baltimore Police responded to a reported shooting at a corner store carryout in the 1800 block of Edmondson Avenue Saturday night. At the scene, responding officers located a 44-year-old man suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect entered the store and opened fire on the victim, before fleeing the scene on foot. Another unknown suspect then opened fire on the suspect, hitting him in the back and arm.

The suspect arrived at St. Agnes Hospital a short time later seeking treatment. Police dispatched to the hospital arrested the suspect who has been identified as Michael Campbell, 32, of East Eager Street. The firearm utilized in the shooting was recovered.

Campbell has been charged with assault, first-degree murder and multiple gun violations.

The victim has been identified as Phillip Johnson, 44, of the 1000 block of West Lombard Street.

Police have identified the victim in the Friday shooting at 2500 Greenmount Avenue as 35-year-old Melvin Ford, no last known address.

Twenty-nine-year-old Reginald Jefferson of the 1600 East 29th Street was fatally shot in the 1500 block of Eutaw Place on Saturday.

Seventeen-year-old Anthony Cheeks was fatally shot Saturday in the 1300 West Lafayette Avenue.
