As part of an effort to open a Baltimore County brewery and taproom, Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House plans to spend $50 million renovating its Relay plant.
The brewer received a liquor license on Wednesday for the new facility, which is expected to draw an estimated 250,000 visitors each year and create approximately 70 jobs. Securing the on-premise consumption permit is a big achievement that will ensure Guinness is able to meet its planned 2018 opening.
The new facility will feature a brewery, taproom, retail store and warehousing operation.
