Baltimore Police Confirm Officers Shot At Twice In Past Week

The Baltimore Police Department said two of its officers were shot at Sunday in the in Pigtown.

Around 6:15 p.m., two officers were patrolling in the 1300 block of Ostend Street, when they heard gunfire and people fleeing the area. A gunman appeared, brandished his weapon and fired one time in the direction of the officers.

The officer did not return fire, because they feared for the safety of the citizens in the area, police said.

A similar incident took place on August 22 in Morrell Park. Around 9:20 p.m., a police officer was in the 2500 block of Washington Boulevard sitting in his cruiser, when he heard gunfire and saw a group of people fleeing northbound from the 1900 block of Harman Avenue, where shell cases were later discovered.

The officer reported that a bullet struck his cruiser during the shooting.
