Amtrak Train Struck Person Riding An ATV In Baltimore County

About 3:20 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, an Amtrak train struck a person riding an ATV in eastern Baltimore County.

Fire officials were unable to provide the gender or age of the victim, who was airlifted from the scene to Johns Hopkins Bayview. The victim is expected to survive.Fire officials said, the accident occurred off of Eastern Avenue in the Chase area.

The Northeast Regional Train 147 involved in the crash was headed to Lynchburg Virginia and was cleared to resume service at 5:01 p.m.

No other injuries were reported.

Baltimore County police spokesperson Jen Peach was unable to confirm whether the train actually hit the victim or how the victim was injured.

“We know there were 2 ATVs and a motorbike being ridden by teens,” she said. “Amtrak is handling it.”
