Baltimore County police announce charges against a 65-year-old man for the kidnapping of Kalani Goodson, 1, in Woodlawn on Saturday.
On Sunday, police identified the man who drove off with the baby girl as Clarence James Harris of Gaithersburg. Harris was charged with kidnapping, arrested and taken to the Baltimore County Detention Center.
After babysitting the girl, Harris returned to the Motel 6 in Woodlawn, where the mother, Dominique Manago, was staying. The girl’s mother refused to let Harris use the motel room’s bathroom. He became upset and started banging on the door. The girl had been left alone in the vehicle.
When the mother attempted to get her daughter, Harris responded by driving the vehicle forward and then backward. The mother was thrown to the ground, as Harris drove away.
The 2004 Chevrolet Impala was found in the Wilkens area of the county around 7 p.m. The girl was safe and in good condition.
