Between Sunday and Monday, three people were killed shot and two other injured overnight in Baltimore.
About 11:30 p.m. Sunday, a shooting occurred in the 1600 block of McCulloh Street between Madison Park and Upton neighborhoods. Upon arrival to the scene, police discovered a man from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Four hours earlier, a 24-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1400 block of Argyle Avenue in Upton. The man was identified as Dionay Smith, but police have not confirmed if the shootings were related.
The first half of 2017 came to an end on Friday with 170 homicides, leaving the community wondering what is in store for the second half of the year.
Another shooting was reported in the 5300 block of Ready Avenue in Woodbourne-McCabe. A 54-year-old man was transported to an area hospital for a gunshot wound to the torso. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A 38-year-old man drove from Haymarket, Virginia to the 5500 block of Bowley’s Lane, where he was shot in the chest. He was in the company of his friends, when the incident occurred. Around 1 a.m., the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He told his friends, “They tried to rob me,” police said.
Another shooting occurred about the same time in the 4200 block of Thayer Court in the Brooklyn neighborhood. A 19-year-old man told police he took off running, when he heard multiple gunshots. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the hand.
