However, sightings in more populated areas, such as Rockville, are not uncommon. The DNR estimates that the state&#8217;s black bear population is around 2,500 bears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents are reminded to be cautious and aware of their surroundings when in areas where black bears may be present.
