History
Ocean City, Maryland began as an isolated fishing village. The property, where the town sits once belonged to Thomas Fenwick. However, a businessman named Isaac Coffin was responsible for attracting visitors from the eastern seaboard to the area, even though it was nothing more than sandy beaches. The visitors enjoyed their vacation, gathering seashells, basking in the sun and taking an occasional dip in the ocean. The first beachfront inn was added in 1869, with 250 available beachfront lots more storefronts, attractions, restaurants and hotels would soon fill them.
Ocean City Boardwalk
Ocean City is a happening place, with weekly events planned year around. Many of the more reserved visitors will skip all the attractions and head straight to the luxurious beaches. For the adventurous members of the group, there is the three-mile boardwalk, which features restaurants, hotels, bike sharing expeditions and amusement parks. The Ocean City Boardwalk was founded in 1902, by a group of hoteliers, whose logic was tourists would appreciate a resort destination along the ocean, where attractions, businesses and hotels were within walking distance of each other.
