The Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the Oklahoma State Cowboys are opening their 2020 seasons against one another at noon ET on Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium. Tulsa struggled last season, ending up 4-8. While Oklahoma State was not exactly top dog last year, they did wrap up the year with a winning record of 8-5.

Since the experts predict a defeat, the Golden Hurricane will need to dig deep. Perhaps they’ll be able to flip the script and come out with a big win.

Tulsa struggled last season winning only four games all season while finishing 4-8, they will have their starting RB back in Zach Smith but will be missing a lot of their starters from the year before. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State finished 8-5 and will have almost everybody back on offense from 2018.

Can Tulsa upset the No. 11-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys? Tune in today and find out, here is everything you need to know to catch the college football action today.

When Tulsa Has the Ball

Returning eight starters from a year ago, the Golden Hurricane have one of the most experienced offensive units in the nation. That group includes senior quarterback Zach Smith, three offensive linemen, the team’s two leading receivers and its leading rusher.

Of course, how much all that experience matters is up for debate. TU ranked 10th in scoring in the AAC last year at 25.9 points per game and 10th in yards per play at 5.32.

Interestingly, Tulsa will square off against one of the country’s most proven defenses on Saturday. Oklahoma State has 10 starters back from a unit that improved gradually over the course of last season. Veterans like linebackers Malcolm Rodriguez, Amen Ogbongbemiga and edge rusher Trace Ford won’t see anything they haven’t seen before out of their in-state rivals.

When Oklahoma State Has the Ball

The fireworks seem more likely to start when the ball is in the hands of the Cowboys. They averaged 32.5 points per game last year, which put the Pokes in the top half of the always-explosive Big 12.

This season, 2019 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year Chuba Hubbard returns to power OSU’s ground attack. He’s joined by dual-threat quarterback Spencer Sanders and wide receiver Tylan Wallace, a potential first-round selection in next year’s NFL draft.

Prediction

This is a big line for the season opener at 23.5 but then again Tulsa lost a lot of talent from last year and OSU is expected to have almost the whole team back from 2019. It’s a lot of points but Oklahoma State is the better football team. Take the Oklahoma State Cowboys (-23.5).
