The plot of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5

Season five of The Handmaid’s Tale will return to the story of June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss), who in this version is out and about, living her life without fear.

However, it’s not long before June finds herself on the run again. This time she and other rebel Handmaids are seeking refuge in Canada from Gilead’s totalitarian regime.

Season five of The Handmaid’s Tale will pick up right where season four left off, with June fleeing into the night to avoid execution at the hands of her own child for crimes against humanity during an uprising that saw a number of handmaids being killed by their commanders.

As one might expect, things won’t get easier for June after crossing over into Quebec: Although safe in terms of physical safety (for now), she is still in a dangerous position – so much so that we’ll see many new characters this year who come to aid her escape.

Season one was extremely well-received critically and commercially, becoming the first series ever distributed by Hulu to win an Emmy Award (for Outstanding Drama Series).
