The cast of The Staircase: What to Expect

HBO Max The Staircase cast has been announced! The show will be a documentary series, which is based on the real-life events that occurred in 2001 and have captivated viewers ever since. The show follows Michael Peterson’s trial for the murder of his wife Kathleen after she was found dead at the bottom of their staircase.

The trial lasted 12 weeks long and in 2003, he was convicted of first-degree murder. During this time, many people were interviewed about what they thought happened on that fateful day. This blog post will explore what you can expect from this new series as well as who is starring in it!

The First Three Members:

The first three members are Michael Peterson himself played by Aidan Shipley, his son Clayton Petersohn played by Logan Miller, and Freda Black played by Taryn Manning.

The Fourth Member:

The fourth member is Kathleen’s sister Candace Zamperini who was portrayed as being extremely distraught about her untimely death.

The Fifth Member:

The fifth character to be revealed so far is Detective Sergeant Ira Yellin – he also had an emotional reaction when talking about Kathleen’s death because she was found at the bottom of their staircase which led him to believe that it must have been a murder!

The Sixth member:

The sixth person in the lineup for The Staircase cast is Captain Mark Curran, played by The Wire and The Deuce’s Kevin Bigley.

He was a detective in the homicide department who had been assigned to investigate Kathleen’s death.

The Seventh Member:

The seventh member of The Staircase cast is Detective Sergeant Rick Wallace which was portrayed as being unenthusiastic about his investigation into her death because he didn’t think it would be an open-and-shut case like everyone else did. He also said that everybody thought she died from “natural causes or something stupid.”

The Eighth Member:

The eighth person confirmed for The Staircase series is Dr. Phil Padgett – he felt grief at the news of Kathleen’s passing but still wanted to find out more evidence before announcing any theories.

The Ninth Member:

The ninth person confirmed for The Staircase cast is Sergeant Steve Taylor, who was the first to enter Kathleen’s home and also found out that she had died.

The Tenth Member:

The tenth member of The Staircase series cast is Judge Charles Weeks – he presided over the trial against Michael Peterson in 2003 after Kathleen’s death. He didn’t think too much of Michael at one point but later changed his mind when evidence surfaced that led him to believe there was something suspicious about her death.

Third place on The Staircase cast list would be defense attorney David Rudolf – he defended Michael during his murder trial in 2003 following Kathleen’s death which lasted nine weeks before coming up with a verdict (guilty). The eleventh actor confirmed for The Staircase: The Last Chapter is Thea Butler – she served as a defense attorney for Michael in 2003.

The cast of The Staircase series includes actors and actresses such as Michael Peterson, Kathleen’s husband (played by Billy Campbell), who was convicted of murdering her after he confessed to accidentally killing her during an argument.

Dr. Henry Lee, the lead forensic scientist called upon to examine evidence from the crime scene when it first happened; Pat Summitt, one of many family friends supporting Michael through this difficult time and serving as his main point person outside of prison while also working at Duke University where he met his wife, Kathleen.

The Reverend Dr. Tad William, who was the presiding minister at Michael’s 2003 trial and whose sermons were broadcast on The Staircase series; Greg Taylor, a biological son of Michael Peterson (played by Steven Pasquale) who is introduced to Katharine from Europe where he lives with his mother; David Rudolf, defense attorney for Michael in 2003.

The cast also includes actors such as Brittany Snow, best known for her roles in Hairspray Live!, Pitch Perfect and John Tucker Must Die among others. She plays Elizabeth Ratliff––a friend of Kathy’s that she met through their involvement in Wake Forest School Board politics––and an old college acquaintance of both Linda Gray and Mike Nifong.
