TGI Fridays Will Lay Off 33 Employees In New York

T.G.I. Fridays filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) with the New York City Region on Friday. The notice indicates that the American-based retail chain will close its restaurant at 34 Union Square East in New York, NY on December 3.

Daniel R. Scoogin and Alan Stillman founded T.G.I. Fridays in March 1965 in New York. Stillman opened the restaurant in hopes it would attract young people. Brass railings, red-striped canopies and Tiffany lamps filled the restaurant, creating a cocktail party atmosphere.
