Temple Hills Juvenile Charged For Handgun On School Property


Approximately 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, a Potomac High School teacher notified a School Resource Officer that a “trespasser was inside of the school.” The resource officer found a 17-year-old inside the school and contacted Prince George’s County Police Department.

While interviewing the juvenile, he assaulted the Prince George’s County officer and was arrested. The juvenile who was later identified as Xavier Matthews of the 2000 block of Iverson Street in Temple Hills had a gun in his possession.

The school was placed on lockdown. Matthews was arrested and charged as an adult. He was charged for carrying a handgun on school property and with assault. A judge set his bond at $5,000.
