Sylvie had a happy childhood, growing up with supportive parents in an upper-middle-class family. Sylvie was famous at school and always got good grades, but she never felt like she fit in anywhere, which caused her self-esteem to plummet through high school.
Sylve would meet one of those friends again during their first year of college when he asked Sylvie on their first date after being acquaintances for years.”
The Plot:

It wasn’t until the summer after Sylvie’s sophomore year in college that her boyfriend asked Sylvie if they could talk about their relationship status and what it meant for them both to be dating other people.
Sylvie was confused because he said he wanted something severe, but then just a few weeks later, he asked Sylve how she felt about being exclusive again.”
This created some confusion for Sylvie as well as concern over his commitment level, so they went their separate ways.”
Sylvie’s next romantic partner found out her story from an old friend from high school. Sylvie was open and honest about her previous relationship, but this new guy did not have the same reaction. Sylvie’s past has come back to haunt her.”
She felt a high level of guilt for having broken up with Sylvie in college because it had been so long since they dated that she hadn’t told him when Sylvies met someone else.
“This goes against everything I believe in,” he said, “My family values are fundamental to me.”
Is the movie worth watching?
If you’re the kind of viewer who tunes into “Mad Men” or “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” for the cigarette lighters, neckties, bathing suits, and light fixtures, “Sylvie’s Love” delivers big-time in that department.
Production designer Mayne Berke and customer Phoenix Mellow create a dazzlingly idealized take on the Eisenhower and Kennedy years, and the great cinematographer Declan Quinn (“Hamilton”) provides enough gloss to give the settings a nostalgic sheen without tipping into parody or turning living rooms into showrooms.
The score by Fabrice Lecomte similarly dovetails in and out of period needle drops with a delicacy that enhances romantic storytelling.
