SOVAH Health To Lay Off 158 Employees In Martinsville And Danville


SOVAH Health filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the Virginia Board of Workforce Development on August 28. The notice indicated that the company would lay off 67 employees at its Martinsville location on November 16.

The company filed another WARN notice on September 6 that cited it would lay off an additional 91 employees at its Danville location.

Business Closing

According to a news release, workers will be offered severance packages or employment with HSS, which will take over the positions eliminated from SOVAH Health.

The employees impacted by the layoff work in the laundry, dietary and environmental services departments. SOVAH Health’s contract with Sodexo is scheduled to expire on November 5, according to a news release.
