On the day of the assault, Howard County police were called to a business in the 11000 block of Guilford Road in Annapolis Junction. Investigators learned that there had been a verbal argument between co-workers Gordon and Powers over where their trucks were parked. During the altercation, Powers struck Gordon once with his hand and Gordon fell to the ground, striking his head. A co-worker called 911 and Gordon was taken to Shock Trauma before being transferred to a long-term care facility, where he died last week.

Powers has been released on $20,000 bond. The case is being handled by the Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office.
