Prince George’s County Police have suspended a probationary officer after the Metropolitan Police Department charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon.
After graduation, law enforcement officers are placed in a probationary status for their first year. Probationary Officer Zaid Abed had been employed with the Prince George’s County Police Department for 11 months.
The Metropolitan Police Department arrested Zaid Abed who was off duty Sunday morning.
After learning of the arrest, the department’s Internal Affairs Division launched an administrative investigation. Additional details were not immediately available.
