Prince George’s County Police Investigating Fatal Collision In Laurel


Prince George’s County Police say a fatal collision in Laurel claimed the life of a 46-year-old woman.

Approximately 5:25 p.m. Monday, police responded to the intersection of Laurel Bowie Road and Bowie Road to investigate a two-vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation revealed a van traveling northbound on Laurel Bowie Road attempted to make a left turn onto Bowie Road collided with a second vehicle traveling southbound on Laurel Bowie Road.

ArrestA passenger of the van was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased a short time later. The driver and passenger of the van suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to the report.

The driver of the second vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The passenger of the van was identified as Lucia Espirtu-Cortez, 46, of Avery Drive in Laurel.

Additional information was not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
