Prince George’s County Police Identify Victim In Bowie Shooting


Maryland – Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in the city of Bowie. The victim is 27-year-old Derrick Whittaker of Huntsworth Court in Capitol Heights. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.

On January 20th, at about 11:45 am, Bowie Police officers responded to the 1200 block of Pennypacker Lane for the sound of gunshots. Prior to their arrival on scene, Whittaker had already been driven to a local hospital. He had been shot in the upper body and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in this case.
