As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, testing is becoming more readily available in the United States. In the beginning, COVID-19 testing was limited to specific groups and areas. According to data released by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 43,200 (April 21, 2020, 2:00 pm ET).
Many of the county’s residents are questioning whether testing is necessary. Deciding if you want to become one of the hundreds of thousands to undergo COVID-19 testing should not be that difficult. Getting tested will give you peace of mind in knowing you have the antibodies that will protect you in the future if the communicable disease returns. It will also help officials characterize the “prevalence, spread and contagiousness of the disease”.
Maryland previously signed a deal with South Korea to obtain testing kits. COVID-19 testing is now available to all residents. A medical professional will evaluate your symptoms over the phone to determine if you need to be tested. Those who receive appointments will need to undergo an assessment upon arrival to the Health Department.
