A shooting on a Metro Red Line train left one person injured, according to the Washington Post.
Around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon, a teenager suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen, while onboard a Red Line train, police said. The train was near the Maryland-D.C. border, headed in the direction of the downtown area authorities said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately available, but authorities say he was alert and breathing at the scene.
Gunfire erupted as the train headed to Shady Grove pulled up to Takoma. Once the train reached the station, the suspects that police believe were associated with the shooting boarded another trail. The group exited the system at Silver Spring, according to the Washington Times.
