Police Investigating A Fatal Shooting In Baltimore, Pushing The Homicide Rate To 198


Baltimore police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Northwest Baltimore on Tuesday.

About 12:57 p.m., officers received a report of a shooting in the 2900 block of Belmont Avenue. Upon arrival, the responding officers found a man who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Violent Weekend In BaltimorePolice did not release further information on the case. The man’s identity is being withheld, pending notification of family members.

There was 344 homicide recorded in Baltimore in 2015 and 318 in 2016. This year’s homicide rate appears to falling in line with those historic highs.
