U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente announced Wednesday the former owner of 9Rounds Gym in Peninsula Center, along with eight others were indicted for money laundering and drug trafficking.
Thirty-seven-year-old Alex Burnett of Hampton conspired with eight others to run a criminal organization that operated on the Virginia Peninsula. The indictment also charged 30-year-old Charles McMillan of Newport News, 54-year-old Charles Bailey, Jr. of Newport News, 41-year-old Mario Barrett of Hampton and 24-year-old Jordan Davis of Williamson with conspiring to distribute and distributing cocaine, heroin, marijuana and cocaine base, according to court documents.
Alex Burnett, his mother, Shirley Burnett, his father, 64-year-old Robert Burnett Of Carrollton, 36-year-old Eleonora Paronuzzi of Newport News and 36-year-old Ada Rodriguez of Jacksonville, Florida were charged with laundering the money made from the distribution.
Alex Burnett faces a maximum penalty of life in prison for continuing criminal enterprise conspiracy to distribute drugs. Alex Burnett’s mother, Shirley Burnett, Robert Burnett and Paronuzzi, Rodriguez are facing a maximum 20-year prison sentence.
