Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. filed a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the New York State Department of Labor on January 12. The notice indicates the company will relocate operations at its East Syracuse facility on Enterprise Parkway. This action could potentially affect 101 employees in New York.
Osmose provides various services, including rehabilitation, maintenance and inspection to telecommunications and electric utilities. The company offers remedial treatments, wood pool maintenance and wood pole lifecycle data.
Employee separations are scheduled to occur on April 30. The affected workers have no bumping rights, according to the filing.
Update: “In April, Osmose will relocate its software development team to a new office location in Syracuse. The current Syracuse office of 100 employees is comprised of software development, project delivery, and engineering delivery positions. While the software development team will remain in Syracuse (at a new location), the majority of the project delivery and engineering team members are being offered the option to relocate to Buffalo, New York or Atlanta, Georgia, or work remotely from home. In total, 14 of the 100 positions currently held in Syracuse are being eliminated (not all 100). These changes are part of an overall effort to combine, align, and optimize business functions,” Lauren Glass with Osmose responded to the “potential layoff” in an email.
